Zimmerman Sale

While I love a good basic, I have fallen hard lately for statement florals that amp up the femininity and can be styled in a more edgy way. I gravitate to Zimmerman when it comes to dresses.

Zimmerman creates day-to-night girly dresses, that transcend the seasons and look stunning paired with modern accessories.

I only recommend dresses that I see myself wearing and loving for years to come. Each of these is definitely an investment.

I do prefer to get high-end dresses, statement pieces and eye-catching prints when I can get them on sale. I do re-wear my prints, but still can’t re-wear them the same way I could a plain black dress, so getting a discount is smart shopping.

I do believe that separates are more practical, but a well-made dress is a one-piece outfit that makes getting dressed, effortless. These are my top 6 investment dresses. Yes, they pack a punch, but they also have an aura of classic femininity about them.

Clicking the image above will take you to the stunning selection of Zimmerman dresses offered on Net-A-Porter. I have also included links below for each dress shown above. Happy Shopping!

Cozy Cotton Candy

A departure from the traditional grey or black coat, these coats are a breath of fresh air. As I add more feminine colors into my closet, mainly blush, a winter coat in this shade will fit in perfectly.

While some coats can weigh us down and add bulk, a light and airy color option keep our look soft and delicate. The wrap versions are as feminine as it gets.

From a bubblegum teddy coat, to a belted wool coat, I wanted to highlight the cream of the crop of pastel pink outerwear.

Though most of these coats are featured on Farfetch, the Paul & Joe classic pink wrap coat is included in Net-A-Porter’s current 25% Friends & Family sale! I will include a link so you can shop the blush pink coats offered in the seasonal edit. Happy Shopping!

Black Friday: Reiss

Black Friday Reiss collage 3.JPG

I am ecstatic to share my Black Friday suggestions with you. I know that I am rushing the year along, but I truly think that planning ahead and creating a wishlist now, will help you shop consciously and allow you to avoid regret purchases this Black Friday. My intent for this series of blog posts about Black Friday, is that you are able to scoop up truly special items that you value and will love for years, rather than items you won’t wear or will get rid of within 6 months time.

I have already written a post about how to shop smart during Black Friday time, but in this post we are going to dive into my picks and future purchases. I always recommend quality above quantity, and I am laser-focused on Reiss this Black Friday. Because I have done intense closet decluttering recently, I only want to bring in new pieces that are here to stay.

Here are a few photos of a Reiss coat I bought last year at 50%, so you can see the quality for yourself. Though it is a plaid, the ivory and grey colorway make it wearable and classic.

Reiss Plaid Coat Collage.jpg
Reiss Plaid Coat Collage 2.jpg

Reiss is currently offering 50% off seasonal styles. Some dresses go for $300-500 + and their amazing wool coats often hit the $600-$900 mark. I can honestly say that each piece I have from Reiss is classic, classy and timeless. So, while I cringe at buying a wool coat for $700, getting a timeless coat for $350 is easier to chew on.

Reiss often have an outlet section on their site, and if they offer an additional 15%, you can snag some stunning pieces at a fraction of the price. Here are my Reiss favorites that I have my eye on…

Anders coat-Longline Overcoat with Zip Detail in grey melange $745

Anders coat-Longline Overcoat with Zip Detail in grey melange $745

Originally I was on the hunt for a classic camel coat, but while looking in my closet, I realized a grey coat would be just as fitting. This light grey would work with blush colors, white, and black. The large lapels and zip details give it a bit more edge than many classic coats I’ve seen. It is lined and the long silhouette will lengthen the body, which is ideal if you’re petite like me.

Mason coat-Wool Blend Longline Coat in berry $645

Mason coat-Wool Blend Longline Coat in berry $645

I have a deep love for the color maroon. This oxblood shade is winter-appropriate and a little sexy. It also would blend beautifully with my wardobe, as I have several oxblood pieces. For me, maroon is a classic color. This coat offers the notched collar instead of traditional lapels, which may be a nice update if you already have several traditional wool coats in your closet. This coat is also available in navy.

Dala coat-Double Breasted Animal Print Coat in multi $545

Dala coat-Double Breasted Animal Print Coat in multi $545

This coat is a bit more fun and playful. Yet, if you have a capsule wardobe of black pieces like me, I think this is a way to add life to an all-black outfit. It also makes dressing for winter super easy. Throw on black denim, a black sweater, black boots, and then top it all off with this fabulous print Reiss coat.

If you lack a high quality wool winter coat, I would suggest buying one of the first two coats mentioned above, before anything else. When Jack Frost finally comes out, we all need that classic go-to coat to keep us warm. Obviously the grey and oxblood suggestions would be more versatile. The animal print coat really only is versatile if you wear black on a regular basis. It also is composed of 41% acryclic and 21% polyster, while the grey and maroon coat are predominantly wool. Your style and what you currently own may dictate your choice here. In case you already have the perfect classic coat, I have included other outerwear options below.

Lexington coat-Faux Fur Coat in grey $545

Lexington coat-Faux Fur Coat in grey $545

I adore this fur jacket. While I think you can find more affordable fur jackets like this, I really do think the fit and fur itself will be much nicer from Reiss. But, if you’re like me and would restrict yourself to one or two coats, you could pass on this. It’s just so pretty though…

Amalia boots-Suede Heeled Ankle Boots in charcoal grey $495

Amalia boots-Suede Heeled Ankle Boots in charcoal grey $495

I am a lover of this deep charcoal color. It’s a bit softer than black, but still is a dark, wearable neutral. These have a bit of a heel…but if you want to give yourself a height boost, and turn to boots rather than heels, I think this pair is a great option. Can you imagine these boots with the matching suede jacket? They would instantly pull an outfit together. To me, this is the definition of modern classics.

Allie Jacket-Suede Biker Jacket in charocal $620

Allie Jacket-Suede Biker Jacket in charocal $620

Tori jacket-Herringbone Tailored Blazer in monochrome $540

Tori jacket-Herringbone Tailored Blazer in monochrome $540

I had to throw in a workwear piece. With the slim, tailored cut and the herringbone design, it’s not your average blazer. I have a pair of charcoal herringbone pants, and I can’t help thinkling what a power combo the two would make. This looks excpetional with plain black trousers and would look equally amazing with a distressed pair of denim. If you work in a smart casual environment, this make be the outerwear piece for you. Now for knitwear, in a winterland of ivory and light greys…

Flo knit-Textured V-Neck Jumper in grey $295

Flo knit-Textured V-Neck Jumper in grey $295

These knits and sweaters are investment pieces. Which is why I will wait for a sale. The thick knit and superb quality makes these the sweaters that I would reach for when the bitter cold hits. I don’t own any knitwear from Reiss, but to me, these look designer. They are definitely classics that I would reach for each fall and winter.

Cassie knit-Zip Detail Roll Neck Jumper in grey $330

Cassie knit-Zip Detail Roll Neck Jumper in grey $330

Mila heels-Leather Lace Up Heeled Shoes in truffle $370

Mila heels-Leather Lace Up Heeled Shoes in truffle $370

This is a great footwear option for fall that will work with nearly all your outfits. The croc effect and high heel make them look modern, and the lace-up detail is very flattering. My most worn pair of shoes are lace-up suede block heels, so I think these would be a go-to shoe.

April knit-Textured Knitted Midi Dress in grey $320

April knit-Textured Knitted Midi Dress in grey $320

Now for a sweater dress. I only own 2 sweater dresses, but this light textured grey is gorgeous and looks very figure-flattering, with the leg slit and waist belt. The grey is so light it looks ivory, so you could style this dress with black boots and accessories, or keep it more feminine with blush or nude footwear.

While this is my Reiss Black Friday edit, I realize that there are still a lot of pieces here to choose from. In complete disclosure, if you are struggling with what to purchase from Reiss, I would suggest passing on this sweater dress. It is honestly one of the most flattering, versatile, and classic sweater dresses I think that I have ever seen. BUT…this garment is 64% acrylic, 25% polyster, and 8% linen. So if you are choosing between this pretty sweater dress and one of the wool coats shown above, go with the wool coat.

Cresida boots-Leather Knee High Boots in black $660

Cresida boots-Leather Knee High Boots in black $660

The gorgous knee high boots are composed of 100% leather and the lining is also 100% leather. The pointed toe and stiletto heel make them look sleek and polished, and give any dress or skirt an instant edge. They also come in military green, claret, and brown (though the brown is currently out of stock.)

Lotte Leather Culottes in black $660

Lotte Leather Culottes in black $660

I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of leather trousers, and think these are a modern, more relaxed take on the classic piece. It also looks very edgy with a pair of knee-high boots. The advantage to leather culottes instead of leather leggings or trousers, is that you can wear them from fall to winter, by simply opting for high knee boots and a sweater, as it gets colder.

Ottolie jacket-Cross Stitch Leather Bomber Jacket in black $745

Ottolie jacket-Cross Stitch Leather Bomber Jacket in black $745

Such a fun, edgy look, in a different style than anything in my closet. The quilted element makes it look even more high-end, but it has a softer look than the typical biker jacket. Is anyone else getting Chanel vibes?

Wynee jacket-Leather Belted Jacket in tan $1,120

Wynee jacket-Leather Belted Jacket in tan $1,120

Reiss beige leather jacket 2.jpg

This tan/nude belted leather jacket is a softer, modern take on the classic leather jacket. I think if you are on the hunt for a new leather jacket, but want one you can also transition to the office, this is perfect. How gorgeous would this jacket look with an ivory sweater and beige trousers? It would look equally stunning with a lace cami and jeans. This jackets says, “I’m polished and put together, but also a bit edgy.” And while some leather jackets can look boxy, the matching belt enhances a femine silhouette.

Bethann skirt-Snake Printed Leather Mini Skirt in brown $540

Bethann skirt-Snake Printed Leather Mini Skirt in brown $540

Annie skirt-Snake Printed Leather Midi Skirt in taupe $620

Annie skirt-Snake Printed Leather Midi Skirt in taupe $620

This gorgeous mid-tone brown snake effect skirt is the updated version from Reiss’s snake skirt from last year (which I own and that completely sold out.) They offer it in the mini and midi style. The midi style would be a great, edgy look for a work-appropriate outfit. However, the mini skirt is more my style. This brown snake skirt with brown knee-high boots would be a stunning combo. I love my grey snake skirt so much that I want this chocolate version as well…

Hope this gives you some inspiration and direction for Black Friday! I expect that Reiss will be where I invest the most this year. What items are you interested in?

www2.h&m.com

The coveted Giambattista collab with H&M is launching today at 10 A.M. EST. So put on a notification now, because it will sell out instantly. I’m not sure I will be able to get much from the collection, but I have my eyes on a few mini floral dresses and winter coats from the collection. Because Giambattista pieces are crazy expensive, I do love the idea of having some special pieces in my wardrobe that won’t deplete my bank account.

www2.h&m.com

www2.h&m.com

Also, some of the frou-frou dresses aren’t something you would wear very often…or more than once…I am sticking to my mantra, and not buying any items I don’t see as versatile or wearable, though the Kendall Jenner dresses are a total show-stopper. Everyone is going ga-ga for the pink cupcake dress, but I would NEVER wear that. Even if I was strutting the streets of the big apple, I don’t see myself wearing this.

www2.h&m.com

The hot ticket items for me would be the black mini dresses, a bedazzled mini skirt, and this AMAZZZing leather jacket with white fur. So, when collections like this launch, stay strong and only purchase pieces that resonate with your style (AND THAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY WEAR.)

And the collection is now on the website! It just won’t be shopable until 10 A.M. EST, 9 A.M. my time. Now is the time to edit down what you will purchase. Seeing all the pieces and their price tag is good to know before you go in and shop til’ you drop.

Herschel is a great gift option for someone is a traveler, loves the outdoors, is often out in the elements, someone who values quality and function, or simply has a classic style.

Reiss Pre-Black Friday Haul

Obviously, I couldn’t wait until Black Friday to leap into the shopping. All the pieces featured in this post are from Reiss’s outlet section on their website.

These pieces were as much as 50% off. This is a much larger discount than you can get during a 15-20% off day. I STRONGLY recommend browsing the outlet section and having a small list of your favorite items; that way, when the Black Friday sale goes live, you can get some of the items in the outlet section for a killer deal.

All of these pieces are very high-quality and classic. Don’t let the word “outlet” fool you. These are investment pieces and there are very few retailers where I would buy a half dozen things and want to keep all of them…but Reiss is one of those retailers.

These items look very high-end, sophisticated, and are easy to dress up. Most of these items are also in a neutral, making them very wearable. Even though a few have a punch of color, all work with my wardrobe because the colors are consistent with my color palette.

Reiss haul color palette.jpg
Reiss haul close up.jpg

These items can be mixed and matched as a capsule collection. They are very feminine, but as I mentioned in the video, I already have edgy, modern jackets and footwear, so incorporating feminine dresses, blouses, and skirts, make my wardobe work. My style is very romantic, with a bit of edge, so if you have a similar style, I think you will find these items very useful.

Each piece I purchased has been on my wishlist for quite some time. They were very considered purchases. By waiting and saving them to Shoptagr, I was able to get them 30-50% off their retail price.

The good thing about Reiss is that they offer similar styles each year, so if you miss out on one item you loved last season, you may have another chance to get something very similar. I was able to get the exact items I have been wanting and got 8 items for what 2 or 3 would have normally cost.

If you buy Reiss without any discount (in the U.S.), you will be paying close to a mid-range designer price tag. However, by being patient and saving my favorite pieces to a shopping app, I was able to add a majority of my Reiss wishlist items to my wardrobe.

I have 3 dresses, 4 skirts, and 1 blouse in this haul. Only 1 out of 8 isn’t pink….obviously I’m into adding feminine, girly pieces and “softening” my wardobe. The one non-pink item, the cream and wine floral midi dress, is probably the one I will wear the most…because I gravitate to oxblood shades and they function as a neutral for me.

I already owned this edgy Reiss patent leather oxblood jacket, which will work with the floral midi dress as a perfect monochrome, autumnal look. This oxblood leather jacket, as well as the Reiss pink leather jacket, were investments I made last year that I plan on keeping forever. Both are statement and unique, yet versatile.

If you see this light peachy-pink jacket available on the Reiss site, buy it immediately! It’s something I will reach for each Spring, as it gives my outfits an instant edge, but still in a soft, feminine way. I do think that a blush or wine leather jacket is a modern, fresh way of toughening up your look.

Boots from Marc Fisher LTD, the Unique Bootie

Boots from Marc Fisher LTD, the Unique Bootie

My top 3 suggestions from this entire selection, would be the Chloe inspired/nude belted dress, the dusky pink suede skirt, and the lace bodycon dress. That would give you a killer evening dress, a great day-to-night dress, and a skirt you can pair with anything.

Reiss chloe dress.jpg

This dress is so flattering, as the belt cinches you in. It is a super light blush pink. The wide hem looks high fashion, and the fit feels very luxurious. It is lined. This dress also came out in a cream color, which I may just purchase if it comes back in stock in my size. The original Chloe dress came out in a nude and brown, and even on sale, was over $800.00 I actually prefer the Reiss version. How perfect would this be for a spring date night? Pair it with knee-high-boots instead of heels, and it will work perfectly for Fall.

Bedazzled heels are from Gianni Bini purchased several years ago.

Bedazzled heels are from Gianni Bini purchased several years ago.

This lacy number has my heart. I have adored it for so long, but even at full priced, it went in and out of stock. I bought it instantly when it hit the outlet section and was available in my size. You can size up with this one; it is extremely fitted. I went with my normal size in Reiss. It’s meant to highlight your curves, in a sexy but classy way.

It is lined with cap sleeves and scalloped hem. The lace embroidery all over the dress gives it an extremely high-end look. I can see this dress working for many special occasions, such as a birthday celebration, a fancy dinner date, or spring/summer wedding. I have sold almost all of my bodycon dresses I had in my early 20’s. This is the one and only super-fitted dress I need; it’s sophisticated, figure enhancing, but classy and age-appropriate.

Onto my other top 3 suggestion…this classic suede mini skirt in a gorgeous, dusky pink. The silver clasps at the undetectable pockets make it look very designer. The color is versatile, and almost as tan as it is pink. I do think Reiss’s suede skirts are worth their full retail price tag. I sized up in this skirt so it won’t be too short.

This skirt, as well as the same style in a beige option, are currently in the outlet section. It’s such a staple that you’ll look forward to wearing each fall..a great transition piece from fall to winter, especially paired with over-the-knee boots.

This swirl print blouse is one I have loved for over a year. I managed to snag it in my size when it hit the outlet. They also make this in a long dress….which I am also considering. It’s such a fun, but luxury- looking print, that is ideal for spring and summer.

It is a bright pink, but looks great paired with nudes, tans, or any white bottoms…white distressed denim, white cutoff shorts, white skirt, etc. Imagine it with tailored white trousers for the office. Though I recommend having your basics before buying statement tops, it is nice to have a few for each season to mix in with your high quality classics to keep your outfits interesting and fresh.

James Coat in Prince of Wales from Sezane

James Coat in Prince of Wales from Sezane

This coat is one I am sad to say I no longer have in my possession. It is the James Coat from Sezane, and one I have admired for over a year. This light grey-Prince of Wales print, looks very high-end and one of the most well-done plaid designs I think I have ever seen. However, the coat was slightly itchy and VERY boxy. I didn’t think it was very flattering on me. The models on the site are about 4 or 5 inches taller than me, and looks very different on them. As much as I adored it, I think a wrap coat with a belt will be a better option.

If you are tall, or enjoy blazer coats, you may love this coat. One thing to note, though, it has no pockets. Also, the other color options in this coat have much higher percentages of wool. For example, the camel version is 75% wool, while the beautiful Prince of Wales version is 31% cotton, 21% Laine, and 14% acrylic. I’ve included it here to show how well a grey coat, or any light-neutral wool coat, will transition these pieces in winter.

Reiss suede sezane coat 2.jpg

Now for the stunning midi skirts that are a bit out of my element. I have a handful of mini skirts from Reiss in my closet, and they are very chic, classy, and modern. However, because they are the mini length, these aren’t pieces I can wear to work. So, I wanted to add a few longer skirts that I can wear at the office, but also on weekends when I really want a dressier, more sophisticated look.

Cap Sleeve Ruched Blouse from Reiss last year

Cap Sleeve Ruched Blouse from Reiss last year

Reiss colorblock suede jacket.jpg

This skirt is the most playful of the bunch, but breathes life into this blush pink capsule. It’s a high-quality, lined skirt, with pleating throughout that accentuates the waist. The variety of colors actually make it very easy to style, as you could pair it with a blouse/sweater in navy, red, pink, cream, or even blue. Above, I paired it a 1.state fuzzy maroon camisole and my BlankNYC suede moto jacket in Coffee Bean. You could also pull out the accent colors in the skirt with your footwear. How cute would some red or navy heels look?

I hope you enjoyed my Reiss seasonal sale haul. I feel confident in my Reiss purchases, because I know how much I value and keep items I have from the brand. I only want to share with you things that I spend my own money on, and items that I want in my own closet. Now is the perfect time to browse the site and see what you would be interested in for Black Friday.

I will be releasing a post, outlining my favorite pieces from the entire Reiss site that would be amazing Black Friday purchases. Those items, however, are new-season. They are not currently in the outlet, and will not offer the high discount that the pieces in this post do. I bought these items, not because they were in the outlet, but because I wanted them full price.

Because I was patient and a smart shopper, I was able to get them at a fraction of the price. Whether you fall in love with something from this post or prefer the new-season selection from my Black Friday recommendations, I always recommend that you only purchase items you truly love:)
